About Mary

I specialize in the Adult learner. I have 30 years of Public School teaching experience as a Choral Director and Class Piano Instructor. I wrote the curriculum for Scottsdale Unified School District for the class piano course, and trained teachers in teaching Comprehensive Musicianship, learned while studying at Columbia University in New York City.

I have a DMA from Arizona State University and a proud native of this State. My students have gone on to promote music literacy as teachers and advocates of the Arts.

I am retired from the school schedule now and have the time and passion to continue with private study in either your home or mine. Most Adults prefer twice monthly lessons which I embrace for busy working adults. I also take teenagers who have a healthy expectation and the time to practice and attend regular lessons.

I actually started teaching when I was 13 years old and have never stopped.

I have an Advance Degree (Masters plus) from ASU in Music Education. I taught for 30 years in the Mesa School system as well as the Scottsdale Dustrict. I currently perform for The Fountain Of The Sun Community Choir, Desert Heritage Church and The Arizona Girl Choir.

About the lesson

We would discuss goals and expectations with discussion of appropriate method and practice schedule.

I currently specialize in the Adult learner. I prefer age 13 and up.

I took my Church Choir to Europe to perform in a Mass Choir in Salzburg. I also traveled with Fountain Of The Sun Choir members on my first ever cruise last summer!
