About Nate

Hi, I’m Nate Zivin, a passionate multi-instrumentalist and educator from Austin, TX, temporarily living in Indonesia (WIB timezone—mornings/evenings best). With a degree in Sound Recording Technology (jazz piano concentration) from Texas State University and an Associates in Music Business Performance from Austin Community College, I’ve played piano since age 5, classical guitar since 10, jazz piano since 18, plus drums, vocals, and songwriting. After 1 year of formal teaching (including turning my dad into a blues/jazz improv player—he called me an “excellent teacher” for clear explanations!), I teach all ages/levels in piano, guitar, and music theory across classical, jazz, and pop.

Lessons are flexible (30-90+ min—I often extend for free because your success matters). My experimental style shines: Overcoming my own learning disability, I break down concepts clearly, concisely, and fun, with adaptable exercises that apply to real songs. I tailor to your music tastes, create enthusiastic materials, integrate production/audio mixing tips, and record sessions for review.
