About Virginia

I have been teaching privately for over 5 years. Throughout these years, I have taught students ranging from ages 4-60+, with their experience ranging from beginner to advnaced.

The most fulfilling thing to me about teaching is seeing my students thrive and acheive their goals, however big or small.

I began teaching during my second year at Kent State University. I began with a humble studio of about 3-4 beginning strings and piano students, that eventually grew to a sizable studio.

I have received both my bachelor's and master's degrees in music from Kent State University. While there, I served as the graduate assistant of the strings program.

About the lesson

Typically, while working with a new student we will begin with reviewing your previous history with music (including ability to read music, previous playing experience, etc.). Then we will begin working on the appropriate exercises to strengthen technique and musicality.

I have worked with students from various musical backgrounds, ranging from age 4-60+, as well as students with ADHD.

Keep an open mind and don't be afraid to search around! Lessons are not a one size fits all. Ask questions to your potential teacher if you want to know more about them and their experience or teaching methods.

After the pandemic hit, everything (lessons, concerts, etc.) transitioned to online platforms. Just a few weeks ago, in the beginning of May, I attended my first live and in person concert, to see some of my students perform.
