About Christopher

Sanctuary Arts is an Art School in Eliot Maine with 20 or more classes taught by professional artists. The facility is a beautiful repuposed 1850's church.

I'm a practicing artist who wanted a place for artists and students to come and be taught traditional skills in a beautiful environment. We have practicing artists who are passionate about their mediums and who never put down a student for not already knowing what they are paying to learn how to do. 20 plus classes are offered at Sanctuary Arts in AEliot Maine.

After I earned my MFA in sculpture, I began teaching at the Manchester Institute of Arts & Sciences which then became New Hampshire Institute of Art. Their model for adult education was one I wanted to emulate in the old Methodist church I bought in 1997. For a while my school was a part of the Institute with accredidation. Then it made more sense for me to continue the school as a separate entity.

I have an MFA in sculpture. Some of the teachers hold BFAs or Masters degrees. All are passionately involved with the medium of their choice. We have been in business since 1999 with 20 plus classes. We have an excellent reputation.

About the lesson

All of the classes at Sanctuary Arts are geared towards beginners as well as more experienced artists. The teachers are all kind and very experienced in their fields. They put together great lessons and are nuturing people.

All ages from 16 to late 80's have taken classes at Sanctuary Arts. We have a new scholarship non profit to help fund high school students and to offer assistance to others who are in need.

We just held an iron pour for the community where folks sat at picnic tables, scratched images into sand molds, and then watched the spectacle of molten iron being ladled into their molds.

We offer 20 plus classes and workshops with a range of prices. The longer running classes are cheaper per hour than the shorter workshops.
