About Khushi

Hi! I’m a current senior at Tufts University and will be attending Tufts Medical School next year. I scored a 1500+ on the SAT with a perfect score in math. I’ve taken prep classes and had tutors myself, but I primarily self-studied for hundreds of hours in order to master the test and achieve my score. Having taken the SAT multiple times, I’ve picked up tips and strategies that aren’t in the standard prep books. When I was preparing, I noticed that much of the content I was given was outdated, so I make sure my students receive practice and strategies that are truly effective for the current SAT.

In terms of academics, I’ve taken the highest levels of math and reading offered at my high school as well as many advanced math and writing courses at Tufts. I also have four years of teaching experience at Kumon, where I taught advanced reading and math. My tutoring includes providing practice tests, grading and analyzing student performance, and holding live calls to review solutions step by step.

One of the things I enjoy most about tutoring is being able to relate to my students on a deeper level. I’m not much older than they are, and not long ago I was in their position preparing for the SAT myself. I know how stressful this process can be, and my goal is to ease that stress while building confidence for test day.

I am a senior in high school, and I have taken the SAT around 5 times. I have had tutoring of my own, went to prep classes, and self-studied for hundreds of hours to the point where I know the test inside and out. However, the hardest part for me was streamlining all of this advice and actually applying it to test day. Mastering this was not easy for me, so as an SAT tutor, my goal is to compile all of the information I have picked up along the way in order to best suit each students' personalized needs.

In terms of past experience with teaching, I have worked at Kumon for two years. There, I have worked with kids all ages, from preschool to 12th grade. I can work well with all ages and I know the best techniques to help students master all levels of reading and math. At Kumon, I learned how to track student progress and mold my teaching in a way that suits my student's learning style. I had to make sure that my students were equipped with the self-sufficiency skills to tackle tough reading and math problems outside of our tutoring sessions.

About the lesson

Typically when I start working with a new student, I like to probe their current abilities using a diagnostic test. Following this test, I will analyze their strengths and weaknesses and come up with a personalized study plan to bridge all the gaps they may have at the moment.

I have worked with students all the way from preschool to 12th grade.
