About Carol

I am passionate about helping struggling readers become successful readers. I am a National Board Certified Reading teacher as well as a Wilson Level 1 Dyslexia Practioner and specialize in working with students who have IEPs.

I am available to meet either in person or over zoom.

I enjoy working with a range of students from pre-k - high school.

I began my career as a pre-k teacher. During the course of my career I became certified in teaching both students with disabilities (grades 1-6) and literacy (birth - 6th grade). I have been a reading interventionist for elementary and middle school for the past 6 years.

I have been working in various educational settings since 2002. These experiences have given me a vast toolbox of strategies for working with all types of students.

Specifically I have been trained as a Wilson Dyslexia Practioner to work with students who have a language based reading disorder or who struggle with decoding words.

About the lesson

When meeting a student for the first time I ask what they feel they are struggling with and how they'd like me to help. Based on those answers I will then administer at least one diagnostic assessment to help me determine what gaps the student has. After analyzing the diagnostic results, I write up a report along with my plan of action. This report is emailed to the student and their parent. Once I have discussed the plan of action with both the student and parent I will create lessons. I will progress monitor at least once a month and report those results to the student and parent.

I typically work with students who have IEPs or language based reading disorders.
