About Emma
My name is Emma and I am a licensed teacher with a degree in Elementary/Special Education. I offer summer tutoring services online and in-person for students in grades K-6. I love helping students learn and seeing them grow!

When I begin working with a new student, I spend the first session doing some informal assessments to determine the student's current levels. I also do an icebreaker activity to help the student feel more comfortable and get to know a little bit about them!
For reading, I bring passages from several different reading levels and have the student read out loud. As they read, I calculate their fluency scores. I then ask comprehension questions to see how well the student understood the reading.
For math, I bring a set of materials such as worksheets, flash cards, and manipulatives. I have students attempt several different problems based on the standards for his or her grade level. This helps me determine the student's strengths as well as some things to work on.
