I’ve been taking one-on-one Russian classes with Kate for about five months. She is a great teacher. She understands that some students learn more effectively with certain styles, and she is good at figuring those out and helping the student learn in the most effective manner. She is not afraid to change styles or approaches if she thinks a change is warranted. She is patient, but also good at challenging the student to learn more. As a native speaker, she offers cultural insights that simply cannot be learned from a book or from self-study.
