Mike is a very experienced teacher who can train and mentor at all levels. I have been training in Isshinryu karate for 2 years (currently a brown belt) and plan on training for quite a while longer because of the experience in each lesson. I started training to mix up my workouts along with learning self defense, and this class was perfect to meet those needs. I leave most classes covered in sweat and have become exponentially more confident in my ability to defend myself if anything were to ever happen. Each class is laid back enough to be socially enjoyable, but serious enough to not distract from our goals and progression in karate and self defense.

When Mike and I first met he interviewed me in his office. We had a very detailed conversation about my fitness experience. I am a long distance runner and have some CrossFit experience. He tailored a weight lifting program for me. He then exposed me to boxing and we do a cardio boxing workout each week. Mike is a great trainer with lots of experience.

I learn actual fighting techniques while getting an incredible workout. He teaches us how to defend ourselves and we learn skills. More than your run-of-the-mill cardio kickboxing.
