About Heather

We teach traditional Okinawan Karate and Kobudo (weapons). We are NOT a McDojo. We beleive in building relationships and trust first. We have just unveiled our new Inner Martial Arts Program..."We build leaders from the inside out"

Helping students learn that confidence is NOT a personality trait...it's a skil that anyone can learn. We give our students the exact steps they need to develop this and other character skills and step by step instructions on how they can apply this to the real world.

Was taking lessons and fell in love with all of martial arts became the dojo manager and began teaching in 2003 after earning my 1st degree blackbelt before a panel of Okinawan Masters. I have been teaching ever since.

I have been training in karate since 2000 and currently hold a 3rd Degree Blackbelt in Karate and a 2nd Degree Blackbelt in Weapons. In 2007 I traveled to Okinawa for 3 months of intensive training at multiple dojos around the island. I received my Personal Training Certification in 2008 from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and in 2010 earned my certification for Corrective Exercise Specialist.

About the lesson

We can work with students within the class setting or if preferred we can do one on one.

Classes are one hour - 45 minutes of karate and physcial training and 15 minutes of our Inner Martial Arts Program.

We require a minimum of 2 classes per week for regular belt promotions but we offer many classes for make days.

Ages 5+

Make sure they have certifiates from authentic karate masters or acredited programs. Make sure they have a curent liability insurance certificate. Be wary of long worded contracts and get copies of everything you sign. Understand what fees are involved beyond the monthly tuition i.e. gear, equipment, tournament fees (are they required for belt promotions), belt promotion fees and how often...what is the real total of financial obligation. Understand your exit strategy and fees involved with leaving a program.

The birth of my son who is now 4 and will be participating with us for the first time.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be clear about goals and discuss with the teacher in one on one interview. Discuss health concerns. Discuss use of video and photography as it is often used on-line and in brochures. Understand the level of commitment involved...not just financial.

Karate Lessons - as many classes as you want per week (minimum 2) including weapons, and Inner Martial Arts - $150 per month

Group Fitness -30minutes (karate not required) - $10 per class

Private Lessons for Karate or Personal Training - $75 per hour
