About Alicia
I've met so many people who have a desire to create clothing but feel intimidated by what seems like complex machinery and techniques. I'm here to make you feel comfortable with a gentle style of teaching that builds your confidence as a seamstress and designer.
Let me start by passing on the best lesson of my own design teacher taught me: "This is fashion, not brain surgery, people!" 20 years experience in the field (including within the NYC fashion world and running my own clothing label, Alicia Zenobia, for 10 years) affords me the ability to accommodate every skill level. Let me set you free as a beginner, or expand your skills as an experienced sewer or designer. I can even give you tips on how to start your own business. I'd love to go on an inspiring learning journey with you.

My formal education was for design and tailoring at RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) and at FIT (The Fashion Institude of NYC). My informal training was working with several fashion houses in New York as well as in running my own label (with fashion shows and everything!) in New Orleans. There's probably not a sewing or design related technique or challenge that I haven't come across in my 20 years experience.

With new students I like to get an overview of experience (it's ok if you don't have any! In fact, I love introducing people to sewing and design! My approach is very gentle and forgiving, so no need to be nervous at all. We only move at the pace that you are comfortable with. All learning is valuable learning.

Details
Pricing is per month, 4 lessons a month for $200. Each lesson is one hour.
Pricing for special projects or consulting begins at $50/hr with a minimum of 4 hours.
