Working with Ms. Shirley Wang was instrumental to the health and optimization of my singing voice! She was able to assess my issues properly and address them directly with suggestions which she herself was able to demonstrate vocally. Her methods of teaching yielded a seamless transition from my middle register to my upper register, which was the reason I sought her expertise in the art of bel canto singing. She is a stellar musician, pianist, singer, educator, and voice teacher for seasoned singers as well as newcomers to the art of music. Ms. Wang is also well versed in the history of bel canto singing so she was able to guide me with direct singing examples for singers of my voice type. I really enjoyed working with Shirley! She is very encouraging and extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of music, including theory, history and perhaps most notably, the complex storylines and backgrounds of the meanings behind the lyrics. She is an instrumentalist (piano) and as such she gives a highly informed interpretation of the music. It had been a long time since I had had a vocal lesson!
