About Mary

I feel that the excellent vocal technique my teachers taught to me, I am able to pass along to my students, helping them to achieve their musical goals. As my teachers before me, I am also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).

Watching students grasp a concept and apply it to their singing. I love when I see the "light go on" and they can apply consistently what they have learned.

As a choir director, I need to work vocal skills with my choir members. It evolved from that need. I did teach classroom music for a few years, but I found that I enjoy one-on-one instruction much more.

I have my B.M. in voice performance. I've studied under renown soprano Marie Gibson, of the San Francisco Opera, as well as Margaret Norcross and the prestigious opera coach David Rubens, of the New York CIty Opera. I was a finalist in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera Auditions. I also studied at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. I have worked as a voice teacher for 28 years, and I have been a music director for the catholic church for over 30 years. I have sung on numerous recordings, film scores, and was a soloist for Pope John Paul II, when he came to the United States.
I am also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).

About the lesson

Typically, we begin by discovering the vocal range of the student. Then, we walk through a few exercises, as I instruct the student on proper breathing and placement. As we progress through the lesson, we apply techniques through vocal exercises, then musical pieces.

I have worked with students as young as 6 and as old as 80. I have many beginners, all the way to professional singers.

I am particularly proud of some of my past student's and their achievements. Either graduating from college with a degree in voice, winning vocal competitions, being selected to elite summer stock programs, such as Circle in the Square in New York City, or being one of the top ten finalists in the Distinguished Young Woman of America contest. I am proud of the achievements of all my students, and love watching them grow in their gifts.

P.S

Mary is a expert at what she knows . With all her experience and knowledge in vocal training she can help you become the singer you want to be . It’s very difficult to find a teacher that can teach material you can understand and I have been fortunate to have found Mary !!!

I charge $25 for a 30 minute lesson, $40 for a 45 minute lesson and $50 for a 60 minute lesson. I don't have people sign a contract, and I allow people to pay from week to week. I ask for a 24 cancellation notice. I try to keep as affordable as possible, so that lessons are not a hardship for my students.
