About Sindy

My lessons adapt to my student's needs and interests. If students are having a hard time producing (talking) and enjoy Harry Potter, then we read and discuss Harry Potter. If they love animals, then we talk about taxonomy, habitats, etc. If a student needs to pass an exam, I do a diagnostic test and set several small achievable goals.

During the last 15 years, I have taught English to Spanish speakers and Spanish to English speakers in Mexico and the US in institutionalized and 1:1 tutoring settings. As a doctor in Social Sciences, I use behavioral science to design the lessons.

In 2017, I was awarded the "best young teacher award" in Torreon, Mexico.

I get the most satisfaction from building student's confidence and listening to how they use their new language in their everyday life.

I am a passionate learner and I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn regardless of their socioeconomic status.

I taught my first classes to adult mexican women that were trying to finish their middle school by attending a night school.

About the lesson

Most of my experience is with middle school and young adults.

Interview at least three teachers, before making a decision set your priorities in line and then decide.

I am teaching a 6 year old to read and write in Spanish. There are few things that are more gratifying that looking at her eyes, when she can read.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before you talk to teachers, I reccommend all students think about their goals, (do you want to improve conversational skills, are you looking to pass a test, are you planning a vacation?), availability (weekday, weekend, once a week, twice a week), and budget.
