About Chris

Hi, I'm Chris Davison and I have been helping people learn Spanish since I was a Gradate Student in 1985 earning my Masters Degree in Spanish Languages and Literature. My love for languages and cultures has inspired me to teach Spanish my entire adult life. I have lived in Spain and Mexico and I have traveled to over 65 countries in my life. I enjoy sharing experiences and helping others find ways to explore new adventures.

I have been teaching Spanish at the University level for over 20 years both at the University of Utah and Westminster College. I also taught for the Berlitz Language School in the 1990s.

I have the highest teacher rating out of all the professors at Westminster College on the website, "Rate My Professor.com"

In 1995 I began my private tutor business. Over the past 23 years I have taught Spanish to individuals and groups of Middle School students, High School students, University students, and Adults. The focus has ranged from weekly sessions helping with school work, test prep for AP/IB exams, learning Spanish from the beginning, conversational or literature Spanish for Intermediate and Advanced students, Medical Spanish for Nurses, Crash Course for Humanitarian Volunteers, and a weekly Wine, Cheese, and Spanish Club.

Please contact me if you would like help in your journey to learn Spanish.

I enjoy seeing people open up their minds to new cultures and increase their understanding of the world around them by studying a foreign language.

I grew up around Spanish; my father was a Spanish professor and I attended kindergarten in Spain. I learned I had a passion for teaching while as an undergraduate student I had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant in a Philosophy class. Later that year I graduated with my B.A. and applied to Graduate School in Spanish to become a professor.

I have a B.A. and M.A. in Spanish Languages and Literature and I have taught at the College level for over 20 years. I have also been trained in the Berlitz Language Teaching Method.

About the lesson

In our first session we will get to know each other and find out what your goals are. We will also assess your skill level so we know where to focus our Spanish practice.

After this we will work both on grammar and conversation skills. We will focus on verb conjugations in the various tenses so that we can begin to communicate in Spanish.

I have worked with Adults, College Students, High School students, Middle School students, Professionals in Business and Medicine.

Spend an hour with the teacher and if it doesn't feel like a good fit, don't be afraid or feel bad about changing teachers. Certain people fit better with certain styles of teaching and you should look until you find the right person.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what you truely want to get out of the experience. Is it just to learn a skill or language or does it go beyond that?
