About Heidi
* I am a strong believer that every student should have the opportunity to improve his or her educational life.
* Learning is an active process. It is not merely remembering information but experiencing ideas as they pertain to our lives.
* I have been working for a local university since 2011 teaching Public Speaking, Effective Speaking, and Critical Thinking and Writing for Business.
* While attending college, I competed for the school’s speech team wining numerous local speaking awards. I also had an opportunity to travel to the National Speech Tournament two years in a row. I won gold in Persuasive Speaking along with three bronze medals combined for the two years I competed. I was also awarded the MVP for the Speech Team for the school both years I competed.
* When I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Communication, I graduated with Honors and was named the Undergraduate Student of the Year.
A previous professor of mine asked if I wanted to teach Public Speaking for her at the local university. That was ten years ago.

I like to find out what the student thinks his/her strengths and weaknesses are. From that point, we can figure out what we should focus our time and effort on in order to improve the students overall skills.
I have tutored all ages. I assisted elementary and middle school students who were preparing for a local speech competition. I also teach for a university and taught Public Speaking and Effective Speaking classes.
Beyond tutoring students in speech, I have also proofread and edited numerous written repoorts from students.
