About Julia
I have been a lifeguard for the past 6 years. During those 6 years I have taught swimming lessons at the private club. I have worked with kids of different ages and levels of swimming. I have started with some kids young as 16 months just getting them comfortable in the water, to working with parents alongside their children so they could learn to swim also. I believe swimming is a life skill that every person should have. I love seeing kids who were once so scared of that water to be completely confident and can't wait for the next time they get to go swimming. I am lifeguard, CPR, AED, and first aid certified.
I was lifeguarding, the club I work for asked me if I wanted to teach a lesson to one of the members, she was about 3 years old. They gave me a talk about the things that I should try to have her do. After that one I realized I liked teaching and started giving more and have made my own system on how to access and work with different kids.
I have been a lifeguard for the past 6 years and have worked closely with the summer swim team.

I like to access outside the water with parents and students (if possible) how much experience they have had in the water before, whether it be in a pool, ocean, or lake. Then once in the water I like to either start or review the basics: floating, putting their face in the water, doggy paddle, jumping into shallow water. Then depending on how comfortable they are start working with the student complete all of those tasks, or work towards more complete strokes, such as freestyle, back stroke, etc.
I have worked with mostly children from ages 3 to 10. I have also worked with kids as young as 15 months, and parents of kids who never leaned how to properly swim.
If they have make sure they bring, a copy of their certifications to your first meeting. If they are not certified in any way but still interested in teaching, get in the water with them and the student for the first lesson. You should be sure you are hiring someone who not only knows how to to swim but is comfortable being in charge of your child's safety in the water.
A student who I have been working with for the past 3 summers, she had turned 7 this summer and moved up to a competitive swim team. She qualified for the summer leagues swimming champs and came in 2nd place in her freestyle and 1st in backstroke.

For a 30 minute lesson I charge $30 and for a 60 minute lesson I charge $60.
