I like to get an idea about the player's level and goals so then I can plan the lesson accordingly. I believe that working hard and making it fun are the most important elements.
I worked with all kind of students, from 3 years old to 80+ year old. From beginners to high competition level.
I think that having that personal connection with a teacher is the most important thing. Almost every teacher out there can hit the ball well but being able to have a fluid/healthy communication is the most important thing.
I was in charge of the ladies team in my club in Nantucket and we won the island championship.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should ask themselves what they want to accomplish in tennis. It could be as simple as getting a good workout or as complex as training to compete in tournaments around the country.
