About Michelle

I'm highly skilled in my area of expertise (trumpet) and have an impressive education background. I am also able to provide Skype/Zoom lessons to students (which is especially useful currently in lieu of the coronavirus).

For more information view my website at michellekraak-trumpet.com or any of the social media profiles I have linked on this website!

I enjoy seeing growth in my students and the enrichment music brings to their lives. I also like performing around the area, as I believe the best teachers "practice what they preach". Part of what makes a great teacher is one who inspires. I try to do this by example through my own playing.

I began teaching during my undergraduate degree program at DePaul where I was introduced to teaching music lessons in a class I took.

I have a Masters degree from the Eastman School of Music in trumpet performance as well as a Bachelors degree from DePaul University in trumpet performance. I also was selected to attend the highly competitive Aspen music festival. I have experience teaching trumpet lessons, having taught locally and at the Eastman Community Music School.

About the lesson

I like to ask each student what their goals are and what they are hoping to achieve with their lessons. I like to focus on fundamentals to improve overall development in trumpet students. I try to keep lessons a positive and enjoyable environment.

I have worked with a wide variety of students. I teach middle school, high school, and adult students. My students are of all ability levels.

Find a teacher who is experienced and educated in your instrument. It is also important that your personality and learning style mesh with a teacher.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are your goals?

What style of music are you interested?

How often do you want lessons?

If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them!
