About Jennifer

* Please read this before you contact me. If you are not 18, please ask your parent to contact me. I live in Houston, Texas. I can teach you locally in person or over zoom or FaceTime. I teach Trumpet or French horn. I can teach basic skills of how to read music and basic music theory no matter what instrument you play.

I have been teaching privately and in the school systems of Houston, Tx for 30 years. I have taught in the Woodlands, Conroe, Klein, Spring and Humble school districts. My students have been highly successful including many All-State, University and professional students. I am available for in person lessons, as well as zoom or FaceTime.

Here is a text I received from a student. This student had been first chair in middle school out of 100 people at region band. She was hit in the face with a ball, and it changed the course of what she ended up doing with her life. She continued to play, but it was a real struggle through high school. This is a text from her:

“Hey Ms. Moore it’s Ellyse. I graduate today and I just wanted to let you know that I would not be where I am today without you. Even when I wanted to give up on myself you always pushed me to be better and I’m very grateful for your guidance the past 7 years. I hope you have a great day!”

I actually started teaching when I was a student in high school in Houston, Texas. I was an All-State student for four years. I began teaching my senior year.

About the lesson

I like to have a phone conversation to determine the needs of the student and then, as long as the student has an instrument, we can start lessons.

I work with students who have never touched a trumpet or French horn all the way up to professional level.

Find someone who has a lot of experience that you are comfortable with.

Perfect! Ms. Moore is a great teacher, I’ve been going to her for about 3 months and I’ve seen major improvements not just from a performing stand point but also genuine understanding of my instrument as well. You can tell she really takes the time to understand your strong and weak points coming up with warm-ups to improve your skill set. When I first came to her my goal was to set myself up for region auditions. I have always been someone nervous to perform in-front of others, but with the patient and inviting environment that Ms. Moores provided I was able to have a much more memorable experience at region auditions.

Perfect! I've been receiving trumpet lessons for over a month and coming from a complete beginner I have to say that Mrs. Moore is a wonderful teacher over Zoom and very detailed in helping to improve your embouchure.
