About Paulo

If you are looking for lessons that:

• Cater to your learning style

• Provide personalized lesson plans

• Work at your pace and your time

• Will get you to LOVE music

Then you’ve come to the right person!

I am determined to make each and every one of my students love and appreciate music and playing the violin! After years of teaching, I thoroughly believe that the student must come first and that their growth and happiness are the most important.

Teaching is my passion! It makes me so happy to help my students achieve their dreams and goals!

I always had a passion for teaching. I began teaching for community service for a local outreach program which blossomed into starting my own violin studio and helping each musician I work with thrive.

I have had the privilege of learning from teachers that have studied in Juilliard, USC, and Colburn and have been accumulating knowledge of teaching for six years now. I have also been working as a violin coach for string programs ranging from elementary to high school.

About the lesson

First I'd like to get to know the student and ask what their goals are. Next, I would ask them to play anything they want and perhaps a few scales to gauge their level. Then I would create a detailed lesson plan on what will cover during our lessons.

I have worked with students of ALL ages and I accommodate each student's learning style and needs.

I suggest seeing how a teacher instructs and works with their student in order to see if it is the right fit.

It was amazing to see my grade school students achieve State Solo Awards and make it into Honor Orchestras!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I emphasize thinking about the specific need and how the teacher would be able to help with such needs.

Simply put, Paulo is an outstanding instructor. He himself is so driven and is constantly working to improve his musicality, which directly translates to his excellent teaching! Learning with Paulo is a great step for younger musicians especially. He dedicates a lot of time and detail into ensuring the students are developing correct playing technique and aids them in exploring a variety of repertoire! Always great things coming from Paulo.

So, Paulo was my first lessons teacher and I honestly couldn’t have asked for better. He taught me most of the basics and helped me create a strong foundation to improve upon: relaxed bow hand/arm, vibrato, positions, 3-octave scales, some sight reading, expressiveness. (sprinkle in some music theory) He taught all this while being patient and pushing me to be my best. 10 out of 10 would recommend for anyone who is considering.

The best teacher I have ever had hands down! I am completely new at violin at the age of 24 and have made great progress because of Paulo. He’s so sweet and easy to talk to, I always feel so encouraged and confident during our lessons. Very genuine and patient, especially with a beginner such as myself which made me feel very comfortable. Be prepared to surprise yourself! I’m still fairly new but can hear such a difference in how I play.

Paulo is an excellent instructor! Energetic and prepared. My sister (middle school) and I (college) both took lessons from him so he can certainly teach all ages. He made me and my sister feel comfortable and relaxed. Both of us left our lessons feeling like we had definitely learned and improved and knew how to practice. Would definitely recommend!
