About Connor

Hi my name is Connor, and I am a woodwinds teacher! I have a degree in Music Education and Jazz Performance from Rutgers University, where I performed in bands, orchestras, and chamber groups on multiple woodwind instruments. My goal in teaching is to give students the tools they need to accomplish their musical goals, and so every student I teach gets an approach that is customized for them. I currently have a thriving studio of Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute students, but since I recently finished my degree I'm looking forward to expanding my studio and meeting some new students!

I enjoy meeting students and finding solutions to each student's challenges. Every student has a different obstacle to overcome, and I enjoy collaborating with students to find the specific solution to their problem that makes them a better musician.

I have been playing musical instruments for 16 years, since I was 6 years old. I studied violin privately for 10 years, and received instruction in college. I went to Rutgers University to study Music Education and Jazz Performance, and graduated with honors in January of 2018. At Rutgers I had the opportunity to play as principal bass clarinet and principal bassoon of the symphony band, and perform on all saxophones in a wide variety of jazz bands and chamber groups.

About the lesson

I like to take time during the first lesson to hear a student perform pieces that they have learned previously, and I'll bring a large volume of material of different levels to the first lesson so that we can find music to work on that matches that students ability level. I also like to talk to the student to try and find out why they are taking lessons, and what they hope to accomplish, so that I can design a curriculum that will help them meet those goals.
