About Dorothy

I attended Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division, Manhattan School of Music College and graduated CUNY Queens College Cum Laude for my Bachelor's in music performance, and graduated Montclair State University for my Master's in music performance.

I have performed in NYC, Queens, Long Island, and New Jersey as a soloist and in many orchestras. I was also invited to perform in Spain and Italy.

For 6 years, I have been perfecting my teaching experiences and many of my students have either successfully performed recitals, won competitions, and scored highly on their music performance tests.

I expect all of my students to practice their homework. I will design a practice schedule for each student that is fit for their personality and schedule. However, the only time I will excuse a student for not practicing will be: an important family matter, important upcoming exam, sports game, or instrument damage. For younger students, I prefer parents to help their child practice so that the student does not practice the wrong material or does not feel overwhelmed. After every lesson, I will give an overview to the parents so that they are aware of their child’s progress. If the student does not practice, I will ask the student to write a practice log of which day, what time, how long, and what material was practiced in detail along with a parents’ signature to ensure that the child has practiced.
