About Safieh
Hi from Gilroy, CA! I'm a recent graduate of Chapman University. I majored in Violin Performance, studying with the renowned Juilliard graduate William Fitzpatrick. I taught privately before and during my time at Chapman, and now I am looking to take on students in the Bay Area. I love teaching and instilling the passion I have for violin and music in general in others as well!
I taught for one year before college and have taught throughout college. At Chapman, I had the opportunity to study many different pedagogical styles of renowned professors including William Fitzpatrick, Robert Becker formerly of the Pacific Symphony, and composer Dr. Sean Heim. Being able to absorb different pedagogical styles helps me know which ones I like best and which ones different people respond to, as everyone is different and learns differently.

With a new student I first like to determine what they are looking for in lessons. Whether they want to play violin as a new hobby, develop new skills, or have a serious interest in it that they perhaps want to take through adulthood. Once I figure out what they want to do with violin, I proceed from there with lesson plans as I get to know the student.
Not all teachers are the same, and not all students are the same! So with that, one should definitely take a lesson with several different teachers to see which one fits best with your personality and your playing. One wouldn't want to be stuck with a teacher that they did not like or work well with. It is a collaborative process, so be picky!
