She pushed me hard because she believed in me, and I’m glad she pushed me because I went on to play violin in college and in orchestras around the Twin Cities after college. She knew my abilities well and picked out perfect pieces for me for solo and ensemble contests. She helped me develop confidence in my violin playing.

Julie is very comfortable to talk to and works with you personally at your own pace. She is very aware of what you need to work on and is focused and knowledgeable in her teaching. I liked how she was able to recognize my mistakes and tendencies and then tell/show me how to fix them. Song selections were fun to play, and lesson books were relevant and helpful in developing skills in different areas. Along with being a great teacher, she has also become a great friend of mine!

Julie is a great teacher. She is excellent at teaching correct technique and helping her students advance. It was also fun to attend the recitals that she hosted. She was very welcoming and made recitals fun and low-stress.

Over the years since fifth grade (I am 18 now) , I have constantly been challenged and pushed to be my best. She is dedicated, honest, and truly cares about every student. Everything I learned I actively use and have developed critical skills prepared for in the long run. She is a teacher that will become your mentor and someone you know can help you take your playing the the next level. Her philosophy, is that If you practice correctly you will go far, and there is no way of getting around that. I to this day believe that now as well, and it’s a discipline that applies to all aspects of life!
