About Taneisha

My name is Taneisha Tilque and I started playing volleyball in 5th grade and have been hooked ever since! I graduated from John R. Rogers High School in Spokane, WA earning several team and league awards. I played for Spokane Splash VBC which gave me the opportunity to earn a full-ride volleyball scholarship to Fresno State University (D1), which is where I received my BA in Journalism. Today, I am an elementary PE teacher and high school volleyball coach. I have 11 years experience coaching high school and have coached 3 years of club volleyball ages 12-18. With my commitment to provide quality programs to the youth, I was motivated to further my education at Gonzaga University and am expected to graduate in 2021 with a Masters in Sport and Athletic Administration.

As the founder of Legacy Sports Academy, it is my mission to empower student-athletes by giving them the tools and skills needed to leave a legacy on the court and in life.

If it wasn't for the adults, coaches, and teachers in my life growing up I would not have had the opportunity to earn a full-ride college volleyball scholarship and who knows how my life would have ended up. I believe in the power that sports can have on a child's life. Becoming a teacher and coach is my way of paying it forward. It is my hope to be that teacher and coach for future athletes.

Certified K-8 Teacher, Certified Physical Education Teacher, Masters in Sport and Athletic Administration.

About the lesson

For new students I will spend some time learning about their goals and assess their current level by playing and some simple drills. From there fundamentals are taught or reviewed depending on level, and a plan is put in place to get the athlete to the next level.

I believe in providing strong technical training combined with situational play to enhance volleyball IQ.
