About Deborah
I teach all watercolor techniques, materials, and aesthetics. It takes all three to do good work. I've been teaching for 13 years, painting since a child. I have a BFA in design from the University of Illinois and did grad work at University of Minnesota. I've had many one person exhibits, group shows, juried shows, awards, and many paintings in corporate collections. (concealed information)
It's a way of giving back from all the years of learning and doing in my studio. Everybody has creativity in them. They just don't know it. I love to see that emerge, to see a self confidence from the student, to see a delight in what comes from them and their endeavors.

I find out about their previous art background and what their goals are for the class. Then I change up things according to that. Beginners need everything...intermediates can go into techniques and advanced skip over to more self expression and art problems to solve.
All types. Beginners and advanced. Teens and elderly.
Be flexible and know that mistakes lead to learning. It's all about the doing and the practicing.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Try to be realistic in their goals. it's that 10,000 hour rule....to get good at something. It doesn't happen in a week. But one can feel good about what they're doing and that leads to practicing more and getting better.
