About Gabriel
I have tutored friends and family, helping students improve from grades 3s and 4s to 8s and 9s in GCSE chemistry and biology. My belief is simple: with proper guidance, every student has the potential to succeed. There are no “good” or “bad” students—just students who need the right support and encouragement to build the confidence necessary to achieve their best results. It’s my job as a tutor to offer this support and to help students not only reach their goals but exceed them. My name is Gabriel, and I’m currently studying Natural Science at University College London (UCL). I specialise in chemistry and biology and have seen first hand how the right kind of tuition can lead to remarkable improvements. Whether it's through helping students who are struggling or those aiming for top grades, my aim is to provide personalised guidance to help students achieve the academic success they’re capable of. I’ve tutored for over two years, working with students of different abilities. From helping students improve their grades to offering tailored advice and study strategies, my approach is always centred around the individual. I’ve successfully helped many students raise their grades—from a grade 3 or 4 to 8s and 9s—in a relatively short period, with an emphasis on both subject understanding and exam technique. A large part of my work is identifying the root causes of students’ struggles, whether it's gaps in their knowledge or a lack of confidence. I help students develop strong core knowledge and study habits that prepare them for the challenges of exams. In addition to covering the syllabus, I focus on exam-style questions, active recall, and effective revision strategies that allow students to consolidate their learning and achieve high marks. One of the key reasons my students perform so well is my focus on exam technique. Many students, particularly in highly competitive environments, can feel demoralised under the pressure to perform well. My approach is built on not only helping students understand the material but also giving them the tools to manage exam stress, prioritise revision, and improve their performance under pressure. While I’m passionate about the content, I am equally committed to emotional support and confidence-building. I understand how stressful exams can be, and I make it a priority to create a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to learn, grow, and challenge themselves. I’ve found that when students feel supported, they tend to progress faster and perform better. In my experience, tutoring isn’t just about improving grades—it’s about helping students build self-belief and a growth mindset. Whether it’s through encouragement, expert guidance, or simply reassuring students that they can do it, I’ve seen many of my students flourish and go on to achieve the results they thought were beyond their reach. I have worked with students from a wide range of backgrounds and schools. I understand that each student learns differently, and I tailor my teaching methods accordingly. From building exam technique to reinforcing difficult concepts, my lessons are meticulously planned to suit the individual’s learning style. I am extremely organised and have an excellent track record of helping students achieve high grades in a short amount of time. Having been a tutor for over two years and having gained experience working with students from various schools, I know how to cater to each student’s needs. As a tutor, I’m more than just a teacher—I’m a mentor, a coach, and a source of reassurance for my students. It’s this holistic approach that has allowed me to build a strong track record of success. I also know that education is not just about academics—it’s about developing skills that last a lifetime. I strive to not only help students with their immediate exam needs but also to inspire them to take ownership of their learning, develop good study habits, and approach challenges with confidence. I’m passionate about helping students succeed and would love the opportunity to support you or your child through their educational journey. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve your academic goals.

My Approach to Tutoring I truly believe that every student has the potential to succeed with the right guidance. There are no "good" or "bad" students—only students who need the right support to reach their full potential. My tutoring is built around genuine encouragement, expert guidance, and building confidence in the subjects that can often feel overwhelming. As a Natural Science student at University College London (UCL), I understand how stressful academic pressure can be, and I recognise how easy it is for students to lose confidence when the environment around them feels overly competitive or discouraging. One of the greatest challenges in education today is helping students stay engaged and motivated, especially when they are faced with the belief that they "can’t do it." I aim to be the tutor who helps students rediscover their belief in their abilities, using active recall, structured support, and consistent encouragement to help them stay on track and push through difficulties. My role is to ensure that each student knows that improvement is always possible, no matter what challenges lie ahead. I have an A* in A Level Chemistry, A in A Level Biology, and 9s in both GCSE Chemistry and Biology, which means I have faced the same struggles and have learnt the best strategies to succeed in these subjects. As a current student at UCL, I have a solid grasp of the material I teach and a passion for helping students gain a deeper understanding of science. With 2 years of tutoring experience, I have developed a teaching style that blends active recall techniques, problem-solving practice, and exam preparation to ensure my tutees not only grasp the concepts but also feel confident and prepared for exams. How I Teach Each lesson is structured to meet the student where they are and build from there. I begin by revisiting the material the student is currently studying in school. We assess their understanding of the core concepts, identify areas where they feel uncertain, and focus on reinforcing those foundational topics. From there, we progress to more advanced topics and begin to incorporate active recall strategies. Active recall helps solidify the information by encouraging the student to actively retrieve information from memory, which greatly improves retention and long-term understanding. Lessons range from 1-2 hours. Once the student is confident in their grasp of the material, we begin working through exam practice—focusing on past papers, tackling problem-solving questions, and discussing exam techniques. The key is a gradual progression that ensures the student feels comfortable and confident before moving on to more complex concepts. Communication & Progress I believe that open communication is essential to effective tutoring. I make sure to regularly check in with both the student and, when appropriate, the parents to discuss how the lessons are progressing, what is working, and where adjustments may be needed. I understand that every student learns differently, and I am flexible in adapting my methods to meet their needs. Who the Lessons Are For I tutor GCSE, IGCSE, and A Level students in chemistry and biology. Whether the goal is to improve grades, gain a deeper understanding of the material, or prepare for exams, I am committed to helping students build their confidence and academic ability.
