About Amy

Hi, I’m Amy! I’m pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), where I also conduct research in computer science education. My research explores how students learn abstract CS concepts, which gives me unique insight into effective teaching strategies. I have 5+ years of experience teaching students ranging from elementary school to college. Currently, I’m a Senior Computer Science Instructor at Juni Learning, teaching Python, Java, Scratch, and USACO competitive programming. I design personalized lessons and assignments tailored to each student’s learning style, helping them build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and achieve their goals. At UIUC, I’m a Course Assistant for both Discrete Structures and Algorithms, supporting undergraduates by clarifying challenging concepts, holding office hours, and guiding students through problem-solving techniques. This role lets me help students build strong foundations and advanced skills while fostering curiosity and a love for exploring new ideas.

About the lesson

I am a CS & USACO tutor with over five years of experience helping K–12 students develop strong coding and problem-solving skills. I specialize in Scratch, Python, and Java, and I help students build confidence while tackling age-appropriate projects and challenges. I also assist students preparing for USACO and other coding competitions, focusing on algorithmic thinking and structured problem-solving. Lessons are personalized to each student’s experience, age, and goals.
