About Bernardo

With over 20 years of experience as a violinist and training from some of the most respected institutions and teachers in Europe, I bring a deep understanding of both the instrument and the learning process. My professional background includes collaborations with world-class orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, and I hold a Master’s degree in Violin Performance from the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne. What truly sets me apart is the combination of high-level performance experience and a passion for teaching. I take time to understand each student’s personality, goals, and challenges, offering personalized guidance that motivates and empowers. My students benefit not only from solid technical and musical instruction, but also from real-world insights into performing, studying abroad, and building a career in music. I strive to make every lesson meaningful, challenging, and inspiring — because I believe learning the violin should be a joyful and transformative experience.

About the lesson

As a violin tutor, I focus on adapting my teaching to the unique goals and learning styles of each student. My method balances technical development with musical expression, aiming to help students grow into confident and thoughtful musicians.

Lessons typically begin with warm-ups and technical exercises such as scales, études, or posture refinement. From there, we dive into repertoire — whether classical pieces, exam material, or orchestral excerpts — depending on the student’s level and aspirations. I also emphasize listening skills, musical phrasing, and stage presence, to prepare students not just to play the violin, but to perform music.

I draw on a wide variety of international influences, having studied with great pedagogues across Europe. This has given me tools to approach each student’s challenges with flexibility, patience, and creativity.

I teach all levels — from complete beginners discovering the instrument for the first time, to advanced students preparing for auditions, competitions, or conservatory studies. Whether you’re pursuing a professional path or simply learning for pleasure, I’m here to guide and support your musical journey.
