About Jeremiah

I started my violin lessons at age 5, and I was Suzuki trained by Marcia McCarry, a violinist in the Bozeman Symphony and the creator of Singing Made Easy. My fiddle teacher was national fiddle competitor Bob Frisbee. I have participated in Suzuki music camps, solo and duo recitals, fiddle contests, fiddle camps, fiddle bands, several orchestras, and finally, the Sammamish Symphony. I am accomplished at playing by ear, and I have the patience and compassion of a teacher who truly wants my students to succeed. Let me help you to open up the musical side of your mind.

About the lesson

It is my goal to help you express yourself through your music. While I am a firm believer in practice and repetition, I also believe that every piece of music is played differently by each individual, and that variation is not only healthy, it is essential. Music is made beautiful by the diversity of musical styles and the ability of a great musician to truly feel the song in their core. Playing music is not just about hitting notes. It is about pouring your self expression into your instrument.

My teaching style is highly adaptable, but my goal is to help you grow and develop in whichever direction you are seeking.

A lesson plan will depend largely on the individual, but will generally consist of playing the violin together and working through a piece of music, with occasional interruptions for notes, technical discussion, and questions. Audio recordings may also be used for practice and training purposes.

What sets me apart as a tutor is that I am patient and analytical, while at the same time creative and intuitive. I truly care about your musical experience, and I hope to help you discover your love for the violin. It is a difficult instrument, but when you succeed, you gain so much more than just the ability to play an instrument. If done correctly, violin will change the way you experience music.

My goal as a teacher is to help bring out the individual strengths of my students, along with their love of music, while also working on their technical and audiation skillsets.

If you wish to learn violin, there are additional costs that you need to consider. You will of course need a violin, violin case, a bow, rosin, rosin cloth, and ideally an extra set of strings. You will also need to purchase the music for your preferred learning method. Whether this is Suzuki books or fiddle books, make sure to account for these expenses. You may also need to purchase recordings of the songs you learn, in order to work on Audiation training.
