About Heather

I knew I wanted to be a teacher from the age of 5. I have worked in education for most of my adult life, finding that my values as an educator are best aligned with Waldorf's teaching practices. This view of education balances intellectual content with attention to the wellness of the physical body and a person's social and emotional well-being. It is also an education through the arts, recognizing that we learn best by doing; engaging our creativity, feelings, and senses. I am also a mother of two elementary-aged children. I spent the last five years teaching full-time to students aged 7-15. I am here to continue to share my gifts as an educator.

About the lesson

I am a warm and friendly human. I will encourage your learning no matter what level you are. A typical lesson will include a short review of what you have already learned, which primes you for learning what comes next and ensures that we don't leave any gaps in your learning. The heart of the lesson will be diving into our content in an interesting way and may include a story to connect you to the subject matter. I will punctuate our lessons with quick brain gym exercises to help you to focus. I will also strive to understand you and your learning style to tailor our lessons to meet your unique needs as a student. I have a lot of experience teaching and believe strongly in relationship-based learning. The better we connect as student and teacher, the more you will learn from me.
