About Hazel
With 12 years of experience as a chess tutor, I am dedicated to helping students of all ages master the game of chess. My teaching approach is tailored to each individual, focusing on developing a deep understanding of strategy, tactics, and openings. I strive to make lessons engaging and effective, ensuring that students not only improve their skills but also gain a greater appreciation for the intricacies of chess. In addition to teaching, I am passionate about participating in and preparing students for chess competitions. I believe that competitive play is a valuable aspect of chess education, providing real-world experience and helping students apply their knowledge in high-pressure situations. I offer targeted coaching and support to help students excel in tournaments, develop their competitive mindset, and perform at their best. This preparation is an integral part of my tutoring, and I take pride in seeing my students succeed on the chessboard.
Outside of chess, I have a range of hobbies that enrich my life and inspire my teaching. I enjoy reading, particularly books on strategy and game theory, which help me stay updated on new techniques and approaches. Hiking is another passion of mine; it allows me to unwind and connect with nature, providing a refreshing break from the mental challenges of chess. Additionally, I love exploring different cuisines and experimenting with new recipes, which brings a creative and enjoyable element to my daily routine. These activities help me maintain a balanced lifestyle and bring a fresh perspective to my teaching.
