About Vian

I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), holding an affiliated Honorary Post at Uppsala University. This dual institutional background reflects my commitment to high-level, international research. I am a truly interdisciplinary researcher, having cultivated a varied background across the Sciences and Social Sciences. This unique blend allows me to approach problems from multiple perspectives, moving fluidly between numerical data and complex human context. My current work is focused within the Global Public Health realm, where I actively adopt mixed methods approaches to tackle intricate challenges. I am skilled in both qualitative (understanding context and experience) and quantitative (statistical analysis and measurement) methodologies. My research is increasingly theory-driven, ensuring that our practical findings are grounded in robust academic frameworks. I leverage this extensive, real-world research experience to provide high-quality, relevant tutoring that goes beyond textbooks.

About the lesson

I specialise in tutoring Epidemiology and Biostatistics for university-level students and researchers. I have extensive experience in these fields, underpinned by a PhD in Global Mental Health and the practical authority gained from working on three successive postdoctoral research projects. My primary focus is providing expert assistance with Stata. However, I am highly skilled across multiple statistical platforms and can also confidently provide support if you are more familiar with R, SPSS, or prefer to work within Excel for data management and analysis. As a tutor, my aim is to keep things as simple and approachable as possible. I am extremely laid-back and highly value the student's needs and preferences. • Student-Led Pace: I am very happy for you to steer the direction and pace of the lesson. Whether you need specific guidance on advanced techniques in Stata or a simple introduction to fundamental concepts, your input is key. • Bespoke Content: My teaching method is structured entirely around what you need. I provide bespoke content to ensure client satisfaction and optimal learning, addressing topics from basic data handling to complex regression models. • Communication is Key: I encourage open communication.
