About Russell

I've been playing guitar for almost 40 years now and in that time I've done thousands of gigs across the UK and Europe and been a professional guitar teacher for 17 years. I've done session work for Adidas and other companies and appeared on national TV.
I currently play in the UK's top Black Sabbath tribute band 'Sack Sabbath' , the UK's top tribute to Ronnie James Dio 'DIIO' and rock covers act 'Synner' but I've played in many bands over the last three decades from acoustic acts to cabaret style bands!
I teach electric and acoustic guitar, bass, mandolin, ukelele and banjo.
Many of my current and former pupils have gone on to join gigging bands, one has even played at the legendary Download Festival!
Of course you don't have to take it that far, there's not much to beat being able to play a musical instrument whether for fun or profit-and hopefully a bit of both.
You'll be surprised how easy it is to play some of the best known songs ever recorded via a few basic chords and strumming patterns. And you'll be delighted how quickly you can learn to do it!
Maybe you want to take the instrument further and learn all about music and playing the guitar. You can opt to do a structured course teaching all aspects of playing and if you choose, culminating in a grade exam. I offer RGT and Rockschool exam courses up to the highest grades at no extra cost per lesson. These are officially recognised grades and permit entry onto college/university courses in music in some cases.
So, whether you just want to play for fun or learn every aspect of guitar from the ground up, whether you are 7 or 70, I'm your man.

About the lesson

I take an individual approach to every lesson as my decades of experience have taught me that no two people will learn alike.

And you'll be delighted how quickly you can learn to do it! Maybe you want to take the instrument further and learn all about music and playing the guitar. You can opt to do a structured course teaching all aspects of playing and if you choose, culminating in a grade exam. You may be a well advanced player that wants to improve in certain areas or study new aspects of playing. For example, I can teach you advanced lead guitar techniques including slides, hammer ons, pull offs, bends, finger tapping, double stops, arpeggios, sweep picking and so on, advanced rhythmic styles such as funk, disco, heavy metal riffing etc.
I can show you how to set up your guitar, amplifiers and effects to help you get the same tones as your favourite players and explain without jargon all the mystifying terms musicians use.
You can decide the pace and intensity of the lesson.
