About Ejumevwo Kelvin

I'm Kelvin, an MSc-qualified Mathematics teacher with 14+ years of teaching experience, currently teaching at a British international school. I specialize in SAT Math, Algebra, and exam preparation, and I work with students from different curricula and academic backgrounds.

My lessons are structured around your specific gaps and goals. Rather than simply showing you how to solve a question, I help you understand why the method works, how to recognize the right approach, and how to apply it independently to a new problem.

About the lesson

How I Teach
My lessons are patient, structured, diagnostic, and focused on real progress.
I don't simply show you how to complete a question. I help you understand the concept, identify the right approach, learn from mistakes, and eventually solve unfamiliar problems independently.

My lesson process is simple:
1. Diagnose — identify your gaps, misconceptions, and goals.
2. Explain — break difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps.
3. Practice — move from guided examples to independent problem-solving.
4. Correct — analyse mistakes and develop strategies to avoid repeating them.
5. Apply — tackle unfamiliar and exam-style questions.
6. Plan — set clear priorities for your next steps.

My goal is not to make you dependent on a tutor. It's to help you become a more confident and independent problem-solver.

Digital SAT Math
I help students prepare for the Digital SAT by combining strong mathematical understanding with efficient problem-solving strategies.

We focus on:
• Algebra, equations, and functions
• Graphs and data analysis
• Problem-solving and unfamiliar questions
• Geometry and trigonometry
• Time management and question recognition
• Strategic answer testing

I also teach strategic use of Desmos for the Digital SAT, including graph intersections, regression, vertex analysis, and answer testing when these techniques can save time or make a problem easier to solve.
The goal is not simply to memorize SAT tricks. It's to know what the question is testing, choose an efficient approach, and solve it accurately under time pressure.

GCSE & IGCSE Mathematics
I help GCSE and IGCSE students strengthen their understanding, improve their problem-solving, and prepare strategically for their target grade.

Lessons can be tailored to AQA, Edexcel or OCR, at either Foundation or Higher Tier.

We focus on:
• Understanding difficult concepts rather than memorizing procedures
• Algebraic fluency and multi-step problem-solving
• Interpreting unfamiliar questions and command words
• Showing sufficient working and maximizing method marks
• Identifying and correcting recurring mistakes
• Exam timing and strategy

For students targeting Grades 8–9, I place particular emphasis on mathematical reasoning, flexible problem-solving and unfamiliar applications.

A-Level Mathematics
I support A-Level students who want to strengthen their understanding, tackle challenging problems, and work towards A/A* grades.

We can focus on:
• Algebra and functions
• Trigonometry
• Differentiation and integration
• Sequences and series
• Proof and mathematical reasoning
• Mechanics and Statistics
• Multi-step and unfamiliar problems
• Exam technique and method marks
I place particular emphasis on understanding why a method works, recognizing which approach a problem requires, and presenting solutions clearly enough to earn the available marks.

When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?
I have had an innate passion for mathematics from my primary school days. I was always in the lead in my class and received the best mathematics student award. I organized free maths tutorial classes for my classmates struggling with maths in secondary school. I continued helping students who needed support in maths as an undergraduate student and started getting favors from them in appreciation for helping them. The kind favor I received now serves as great motivation for me to continue doing the good work of assisting anyone struggling with mathematics.
What makes you passionate about your subject?
I want to see students who once struggled with mathematics become masters. I want them to see maths as a lovable subject. I want them to be well prepared to succeed in math effortlessly by understanding the underlying concepts.

What I like about tutoring is seeing my tutees with a clear understanding of concepts that once looked opaque to them in maths. I have helped 100% of my students succeed in maths. That makes me a Superprof.

One of my mathematics lecturers during my undergraduate studies was a great inspiration. He practically made mathematics fun for me. His classes were never boring for once, and I never studied so hard to pass his courses because his lectures were crystal clear. He automatically became my role model as I fell in love with teaching.
