About Damon
I hold an MPhil in Mathematics and bring more than five years of tutoring experience. My teaching goes beyond problem-solving—I focus on reducing math anxiety and fostering confidence. I believe learning math should be empowering, not stressful. I often work with students who feel discouraged or overwhelmed. Through patience and care, I help them rebuild trust in their own abilities. Growth mindset techniques allow them to embrace challenges with courage. I teach mathematics with a focus on reflection, patience, and deep conceptual understanding. My lessons emphasize clarity in core areas such as calculus, number theory, proofs, and abstract algebra, where complex ideas are broken down step by step to make them accessible and meaningful.
Students are encouraged to learn at their own pace, in a way that aligns with their personal thinking style. I especially enjoy supporting DIY learners and researchers as they develop their own approaches to exploring theorems. Curiosity, independence, and discovery are central to my teaching philosophy.
Mistakes are treated as valuable steps toward deeper understanding, and students are guided to see them as part of the learning process. I create an environment where questioning is encouraged and exploration is welcomed, helping mathematics feel less intimidating and more engaging.
Ultimately, my goal is to help students not only excel academically but also develop new and thoughtful ways of thinking mathematically, building confidence and genuine appreciation for the subject.
