Mr James was my IGCSE Geography teacher. For 2 years, I enjoyed every moment studying with him. He is extremely knowledgeable about the subject he teaches and is very passionate, which made me and other students become more hardworking in his classes as well. His classes are always engaging, involving the students and helping them learn actively as much as possible. As of exam preparation, he made sure we were prepared in every single way. He provided us with great tips and advices, clearly answering all sorts of questions we had. Overall, he is an amazing teacher. Any student with him as a teacher should feel safe and assured.

Mr James was my IGCSE Geography teacher from Year 10 to 11. As someone who had not studied geography before, Mr James opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. He is a highly effective teacher who not only taught me the content so well that I achieved the highest grade in Vietnam but also inspired a passion for environmentalism in me. I highly recommend him to students who want to go beyond rote memorisation and understand the concepts clearly. I have never seen Mr James stumped by a question because he is constantly learning and sharing his insights with us. His genuine love for geography really shows through in the classroom and he is always happy to dedicate extra time if we have a burning curiosity. His teaching style is very research-based which helps us remember content much easily. He is one of the most effective teachers I have come across and his geography lessons still stick with me. I could not recommend him more :)

Mr. James was my high school teacher during pre-DP and IB. His style of teaching is exciting, he can make my class engaged in every single lesson and get us to develop our critical thinking skills. Mr. James is also kind and patient; he has an open mind, which allows me and many others to express our opinions freely. I recommend Mr. James because I believe he could bring in a practical and helpful perspective on the subjects he teaches. I still remember one memory from 10th grade when I was bringing up some issue with him, and I still think about how well he interacted with me regarding his kindness and expressions. Mr. James Hopkinson has been one of the most inspiring teachers I’ve ever had. He taught me a great deal about geography—not just facts and maps, but a way of understanding the world. His lessons were always clear, thoughtful, and full of energy. With kindness and patience, he explained even the most complex concepts in simple and engaging ways.
What I’ve learned from him has stayed with me far beyond the classroom. I am 25 now and whether when I hiking through the Alps or exploring the rainforests of Singapore, I’ve often found myself recalling what he taught us. Aside from his passion in the subject, Mr James is incredibly friendly and helpful in class. It is not just the standard speaking-off-the-slide classroom, but he will engage with class discussion very attentively and make sure you are heard. There is one thing I would say to not worry about is to ask something, cuz Mr James is extremely nice and constructive so I believe it would help you in the topic greatly.
