About Ross

With 7 years of teaching and performing experience, I am an experienced violin tutor committed to helping students develop both technical skill and artistic expression. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners exploring foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.

One of the highlights of my career has been helping students grow from struggling with posture, rhythm, or technique to confident performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and musicality.

My teaching focuses on building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also nurturing creativity, musical interpretation, and expression. I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to provide students with a complete understanding of music.

Lessons are adapted to each student’s learning style, pace, and goals, creating a supportive, patient, and inspiring environment where students feel encouraged to explore, experiment, and grow. Teaching violin allows me to cultivate confidence, discipline, and a lifelong passion for music in every student.

About the lesson

I teach violin with a methodology grounded in motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to create lessons that develop technically skilled, expressive, and confident musicians. Lessons are tailored to each student’s abilities, goals, and learning style, combining structured technical exercises with creative exploration, improvisation, and performance practice.

Motivation drives learning. I help students set clear goals, track progress, and celebrate milestones, fostering self-confidence, perseverance, and a lifelong love for music. Communication ensures lessons are interactive and collaborative, providing a safe space for students to ask questions, express challenges, and share ideas freely.

Creativity is emphasised throughout lessons. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to explore their artistic voice and develop an emotional connection to music. Integrity reinforces disciplined, responsible practice and respect for learning, establishing habits that support long-term success.

Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and basic piano, providing students with a well-rounded musical foundation. My methodology ensures students progress technically, creatively, and emotionally, cultivating a lifelong passion for music.
