About Ben
My name is Ben Wilson, I'm a self-taught London-based artist focusing on portraits and figurative painting in oils. I have exhibited in galleries across London; recently exhibiting with the prestigious Royal Society of Portrait Painters at the Mall Galleries. My paintings are also held in private collections internationally. My style and techniques are inspired by the master artists throughout art history from the Renaissance period to impressionism, post-impressionism and realism. I have studied the methods of the old masters and experimented with a wide range of mediums and techniques including mixing pigments and creating varnishes. I can show you how to work in this traditional way and teach you how to prepare your own canvases which is often overlooked by many artists today. This knowledge is not taught in many art schools. With my teaching you will have a much deeper understanding of painting and you will be able to take your work to the next level and have a museum quality final piece of art that will allow you to increase the price of your art.
