About Orlando

My name is Orlando Bryant, a MA in Filmmaking graduate from DeMontfort University. I currently work as a freelance assistant director within the film and television industry working on high-end television shows such as The Sandman, The Midwitch Cuckoos and the upcoming TV show Disclaimer with actors such as Cate Blanchett, Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen and Kodi Smit-McPhee

Whilst being on these sets, I've learned from filmmakers such as Alfonso Cuaron, Neil Gaiman and Emmanuel Lubezki who have taught me a range of things from making sure the story is tight and the relationship between director and cinematographer.

As well as being a working professional, I am also an independant filmmaker who specialises in writing and directing. I have written, directed and produced short films which has had success in BAFTA/Academy Award qualifying film festivals around Europe, especially Raindance Film Festival where all my films have been screened so far.

About the lesson

Our very first session together, will be us establishing what your goals are. For example, if it is to write a 12-page short script that's ready to shoot in 3 months, I'll coach you from concept to finished product.

What you will get from me is the necessary skills and knowledge to either start your filmmaking journey or to take the next step in your already fledging career. I'll do this by giving you book recommendations that you can purchase and have as part of your arsenal no matter what department who want to be in. Also, I will point out the existing industry programs and competitions that, should you do well, will give you global recognition and also a chance of professional representation.

To make sure that we build on every session, I'll set homework which develops your study habits and independant learning. This is a major part of this industry and it doesn't if you're in film school or not, in order to grow, we need to adapt and learn. What the homework will be is dependant on your individual needs.

A typical lesson with me is 2 hours and I recommend this length as it gives you plenty of time to digest the information and knowledge I will teach. However, if this does not fit your schedule, a per hour basis is available.

My lessons cater for all levels of experience in the filmmaking industrybut please be aware that you have to be 18 minimum.
