About Max
I am an experienced piano teacher, offering lessons to a range of individuals from complete beginners to advanced performers. I am a music graduate from the University of Oxford (Somerville College), a former scholar of the 'Pianoman' programme (studying with international concert pianists Richard Meyrick, Gabriele Baldocci and David Malusa) and a former student of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
I have experience working with pupils of a variety of different ages and backgrounds, and an excellent track record of delivering high-quality piano lessons. My training has been diverse and varied -- and I am comfortable teaching a variety of styles and techniques. I strive to ensure that my passion and love for music (particularly the piano repertoire) is palpable in every lesson. I believe it is important that students love the music they are playing , and therefore I do my best to allow the student space to explore their own musical and intellectual resources.
My approach to piano teaching is a hollistic one; I attempt to ensure that nothing major is neglected from the earliest stages. I believe that careful attention to detail is essential from the outset, and strive to promote positive habits that lay excellent foundations for the future.
I will always treat my students with the respect they deserve irrespective of their skill and pianistic level, and retain a sense of professionalism, sensitivity and humour.
