About Ciaran

I’m Ciaran, a first-class Politics graduate from the University of Essex, with a professional background in public-sector project delivery, including within the House of Commons.

I want to help students feel confident discussing politics and expressing their ideas clearly. It’s a subject that can seem overwhelming, particularly when understanding the content doesn’t always translate into the essay marks you’re hoping for. My aim is to help bridge that gap through clear explanations, thoughtful discussion and practical feedback.

As someone beginning my tutoring practice, I bring a strong academic foundation and a commitment to preparing carefully for each student. You can expect organised lessons, patience and honest, constructive feedback, with teaching focused on your course and goals.

You don’t need to arrive with polished answers. Questions, uncertainty and disagreement are welcome: we’ll use them to develop your understanding and help you build balanced, well-supported arguments.

About the lesson

My approach is to make politics understandable and help students develop the confidence to explain, analyse and evaluate ideas for themselves. I connect political concepts with real-world examples, then use discussion and practice questions to turn that understanding into stronger written answers.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are tailored to the student’s exam board, current topics and areas they find challenging. We begin with a short recap, work through a focused topic, then apply it through an essay plan, source question or written paragraph. I give specific, constructive feedback so students understand both what works and how to improve.

I hold a first-class BA (Hons) in Politics from the University of Essex. My professional background is in public-sector project delivery, including working within the House of Commons. I am beginning my tutoring practice and bring strong subject knowledge, clear communication and a patient, organised approach.

My lessons are aimed primarily at A-level Politics students, typically aged 16–18, particularly those seeking support with UK politics and government, essay structure and exam technique. Whether you need help understanding a topic or building a balanced argument, we will work at a pace that suits you and set clear goals together.
