About Imtiyaz

Hi! My name is Imtiyaz but everyone calls me Taz - I am a first year medical student who enjoys playing the saxophone in my spare time.

I achieved 3200 Band 1 on my UCAT, all 9s at GCSE and 3 As in Chemistry, Biology and German - I want to share strategies I have learnt through this process into medicine, and help my students who want to follow the same pathway.

I remember the stress of the Year 12 summer and Year 13 exams, and I would love the opportunity to relieve some of this stress for future years. Having been in that position myself not too long ago, I understand the problems these year groups often face.

Having the opportunity to reassure my students, the same way my tutors reassured me, is the biggest reason I want to strive to give the best support I can.

About the lesson

Sharing my own experiences, I aim to work with my students to refine methods and consolidate learning which will help them achieve the grades they want. Keeping a relaxed environment is very important to me, as I believe students are able to learn best this way.

I try to tailor my lessons to each student: I begin with one "diagnostic" lesson to understand what you want to achieve, and then build upon that with more content-focused sessions. I usually start with UCAT practice and then move onto interview preparation in later sessions.

I am very flexible with lesson times, so I am able to accommodate to my students' timetable.

I have experience tutoring through volunteer projects at my secondary school, as well as paid work online through MyTutor. Both of these experiences have shaped how I deliver my lessons to ensure my students do the best they can.
