About Zane
I am a passionate flute tutor with 7 years of teaching experience and over 150 students taught successfully. I believe that learning the flute should be both structured and enjoyable, which is why my lessons combine technical training—breath control, finger agility, tone, and rhythm—with creative exploration and performance exercises.
I customise each lesson to the student’s learning style and goals, ensuring effective progress while maintaining motivation. I also teach sight-reading, music theory, and ensemble techniques to provide a complete musical foundation. My aim is to help students become confident, skilled, and expressive musicians who carry their love for music throughout life.

My flute teaching methodology is centred on creating a personalised and motivating learning experience for every student. I begin by identifying each learner’s unique style—visual, auditory, or kinaesthetic—and adapt lessons to suit their strengths. This ensures that every session is engaging, effective, and enjoyable.
Flexibility is a key part of my approach. I adjust exercises, practice routines, and repertoire to align with each student’s progress, interests, and goals. Collaboration is also central: I encourage duets, ensemble exercises, and group interactions to strengthen timing, musical expression, and confidence. Positivity forms the foundation of every lesson, fostering a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to take risks, learn from mistakes, and celebrate progress.
In addition to flute performance, I incorporate music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and rhythm exercises. This holistic approach ensures students develop both technical mastery and expressive musicality, guiding them to become confident, versatile, and passionate musicians.
