About Tague

I love private tutoring. It's an opportunity to give learners the time and attention they need to succeed. It's a chance to mentor students and be a part of their epiphany moments. It's also a big responsibility. I always prepare and show up on time. To help me prepare, I often ask students for pictures of their homework/tests before the lesson to make sure I know the best ways to explain it to them. If I don't, I practice what I preach: study!

About the lesson

I always start my sessions by trying to connect with the student. They're less likely to listen to you if they don't like/respect you.

For science/math, I continue by reviewing homework and tests. It's easy for students to feel shame and shut down when reviewing mistakes, so I make sure to stay supportive and avoid shaming. Stupid questions are encouraged!

For music, I let the students' passions lead the way. There are music theory and technique lessons to be learned from almost every song, so teach those principles in the context of the music they love. Once they are hooked, I look to spread their wings and passions to new genres.
