About Jamie

I am driven by creative work and the genuine joy of bringing ideas to life. Programming is a uniquely powerful medium that allows us to craft interactive experiences and make entire digital worlds emerge from lines of code. Sharing that passion with others is why I teach.

I bring a unique combination of formal academic teaching and tech industry experience to our lessons. This background allows me to go beyond standard textbook theory, showing you real-world coding standards and how to think through a project with an end product in mind.

Ultimately my goal is not just to help you fix a single bug, pass a single assignment, or help you finish one project. I want to equip you with the self-sufficiency and mindset of a true engineer. You will walk away with the tools to continue learning independently, with the curiosity to explore new technologies and the confidence to take on any project that inspires you.

About the lesson

Everyone learns differently, so my lessons are tailored to your goals. Whether you are a beginner taking your first steps in coding, a creator building your first game, or a university student working through coursework.

I focus heavily on live pair-programming and guided project building from scratch. You’ll be actively writing code and building real applications from the beginning, instead of sitting through a lecture.

When you get stuck or find a bug in your work, I won't just hand you the answer. Instead I'll guide you through the problem using the same problem-solving and debugging process I’ve used throughout my career as a software engineer. I'll ask targeted questions to lead you to the solution, break down complex issues into manageable steps, and walk you through the underlying core concepts so you gain a lasting understanding.

Standard lessons are 60 minutes long, which provides enough time to review concepts, write code, and debug together without burnout. Shorter or longer sessions can also be arranged based on emerging needs.

I hold a First Class BSc in Computer Games Programming from Middlesex University and previously served as a Games Programming Lecturer at SAE Institute London, delivering university-level lectures on C++, AI, and tools programming, while mentoring students through technical assignments.

My lessons are for anyone age 13 and up, including to university level and beyond.
