As a rugby coach, my main goal is to create a positive and effective learning environment for my players. I start by assessing their current skill levels and understanding their individual goals. From there, I design training sessions that focus on developing fundamental skills like passing, catching, tackling, and rucking. Each session typically includes a warm-up, skill-specific drills, and game-like scenarios to help players apply what they've learned. I emphasise the importance of teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship. I also make sure to provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help players improve and build confidence. Safety is always a top priority, so I teach proper techniques and ensure that all players understand the rules of the game.
