About Catharine

I am a young freelancer currently working in screenwriting for short and feature length independent films. As well as a writer, I also freelance as an actor, but love teaching in my spare time!

I come from a theatre background, but made the transition to film during the pandemic. I am self taught, and all my knowledge/ employment in the industry has come from hard work alongside the connections I've made.

With a knowledge of the independent film market in the UK, I have a very informed approach to making your story as marketable as possible, without disregarding the more nuanced aspects of the message you want to convey through your work.

About the lesson

I love to employ a creative and laid back approach to lessons. There is no such thing as a silly question! On the screenwriting side of things, I work with a very open approach, treating every idea and suggestion as valid and worth considering. My main areas of speciality are in short films and feature films, but I also write for TV. I specialise in dark comedy, but am well versed in drama, comedy and horror as well.

A typical class with me will span one hour, or two hours with a ten minute break in between upon request.

I have worked as an online tutor before during my degree, but now I've graduated I want to come back to it on the side of freelancing as a screenwriter for film and TV!

I teach screenwriting mainly to young adults who are just beginning their own path in the industry.
