About Penelope J
Bonjour! I’m a passionate and patient French tutor dedicated to helping students learn through experience, connection, and curiosity.
I’m a native French speaker — Mexican and French-Canadian, born in Montréal.
I studied Education in Global Contexts at McGill (I also played basketball there), which gave me strong experience in teaching, child development, and pedagogy.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
I combine language instruction with lived experience. Instead of focusing only on textbooks, I guide students to experience French through the world around them.
I’m also multilingual (French, English, and Spanish), which helps me understand my students’ linguistic challenges and explain concepts clearly.

A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session is adapted to the student’s level and objectives, but generally follows this format:
Warm-up (5–10 min) – Quick review or mini conversation about the day’s theme.
Focused learning (15–20 min) – Introduction of new vocabulary or grammar through interactive examples.
Practical application (25–30 min) – Real-life conversation practice or experiential activity (either in-class simulations or outings).
Reflection & feedback (5–10 min) – Recap of new concepts and personalized suggestions for improvement.
